General

What is pagenorma and who is it for?

pagenorma is a browser-based workspace for literary translators. It tracks your pace, deadline and earnings, and lets you compare your translation with the original using AI commentary, a glossary and a thesaurus.

Learn more: What is pagenorma?

Is pagenorma free?

Every account starts on pagenorma S, which is free. It includes a monthly allowance of AI use: 5 analysis pages, 5 glossary pages and 100 thesaurus searches. pagenorma QS has no monthly limits. Buying extra tokens is not available yet.

What is the difference between pagenorma S and QS?

On S, the AI features run through your own Hugging Face account or token and are limited by your monthly allowance. On QS, they run through pagenorma’s own AI connection, so you need no Hugging Face token and have no limits. The logo at the top of the Dashboard shows which one you are using.

Do I need an account?

Not to track projects. Projects, the Dashboard, Financial Analytics and backups work without signing in. You need an account with a verified email for AI analysis, the glossary and the thesaurus.

Learn more: Create an account

Can I install it and use it offline?

Yes, you can install pagenorma on a computer or phone and open it without a connection to look at the projects stored on your device. Signing in, Google Docs and all AI features need the internet.

Account & sign-in

Why do I have to verify my email?

AI features use a shared allowance, and verification ties it to a reachable email address. Until you verify, you cannot start an analysis or see your allowance. Use Resend verification email on the Profile page if the message did not arrive.

Learn more: Verify your email address

Do Google, Hugging Face and email sign-in open the same account?

Yes. All sign-in methods open the same account, with the same token balance and allowance.

Learn more: Sign-in methods

I forgot my password. What now?

On the login page click Forgot password?, then Send reset link, and follow the link in the email. If you normally sign in with Google or Hugging Face, you may have no password and should use that button.

Learn more: Reset your password

If I delete my account, are my projects deleted too?

No. Projects are stored in your browser, not in your account. Deleting the account removes your profile, token balance and token history, and it cannot be undone. This month’s usage counters are kept until the month ends so the free allowance cannot be reset.

Projects & progress

What is a standard page?

One standard page is 1800 characters including spaces. Progress, earnings and AI usage are all counted in these pages.

Learn more: Standard pages explained

Which files can I use?

The source book can be an ePub or a PDF. The translation can be a Google Doc or a DOCX, RTF, ODT or TXT file.

Learn more: Supported file formats

Does it work with scanned PDFs?

Yes. Pages without selectable text are read with OCR, which takes longer. OCR recognises 25 languages, including Croatian, Serbian, Slovenian, German, French, Spanish and Italian.

How does pagenorma know how much I have translated?

It keeps a copy of your translation. After you write more, click Refresh Translation on the project card to update progress, pace and earnings.

Learn more: Refresh your translation

I have finished, but progress is below 100%. Why?

Translations are rarely exactly as long as the source. Once your translation reaches 95% of the source by characters, the card offers Mark as completed, which shows 100%. You can reopen the project later.

Learn more: Mark a project as completed

What does the red required pace mean?

If you set a daily target, the required pace turns red when the pages left divided by the days left is higher than that target, meaning you are behind your own plan. Only business days count unless you chose to work weekends.

Learn more: Understand your project card

Does my translation have to be in Google Docs?

No. You can use a DOCX, RTF, ODT or TXT file instead. In browsers such as Chrome and Edge you can choose it with change tracking, so Refresh Translation rereads it without asking again.

Learn more: Use a document file

AI analysis, glossary & thesaurus

Does the AI change my translation?

No. It only adds comments in a separate column of the side-by-side view.

Learn more: How the AI commentary works

What does the AI check?

It looks for meaning that is lost or changed, wording that is possible but unsuitable in context, and unjustified variation of the same term. It also checks that each translated paragraph really matches its source.

Learn more: How the AI commentary works

How accurate is it?

It can be wrong, especially with idiom, wordplay and rare words. Treat comments as pointers to look again, and make the final decision yourself.

In which language are the comments written?

In the language of your translation. It is detected automatically, or you can set it in the project. When the language is unknown, comments default to Croatian.

Learn more: Create a project

Do I have to analyse the whole book?

No. Enter page ranges such as 22-56, 60-75, 78 in the analysis dialog. You are charged only for the pages you select.

Learn more: Choose which pages to analyse

What does a glossary "Red flag" mean?

The AI thinks the translated term looks wrong in context. Open the details to see the score, the reason and where the term appears, then decide yourself. The glossary is built from your own translation, so use it as a guide, not a rule.

Which languages does the thesaurus support?

English, Croatian, Serbian, Slovenian, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Portuguese, Swedish, Danish and Norwegian. Results are grouped by part of speech, with strong and weak synonyms.
